Before & After School Programs

Breakfast Club is the Before School Program; Work & Play is the After School Program. Both programs start the first day of school and meet daily except holidays and vacations.

The Breakfast Club and Work & Play programs offer flexible scheduling options for before and after school childcare for Douglas students in grades K-6. The programs follow the District Calendar. Breakfast Club opens at 7:00am in the cafeteria and offers a complete breakfast before children are dismissed to their classrooms at 8:15am. Work and Play meets in modulars #4 and #5 (the library) after school until 6:00pm and offers a healthy snack and drink.

The program is designed to allow children the freedom to choose among activities such as arts and crafts, games, computer lab, outdoor play, and gym time. A quiet study area is available for students to work on homework with staff support. Although breakfast and snacks are provided, for health and safety reasons we ask that students with food allergies bring their own food from home for breakfast, lunch and snack. The C. T. Douglas food service is closed on Thursdays and early release days; all students must bring lunch from home on those days. Read the Acton-Boxborough Community Education Extended Day Policies.

Enrichment Classes range from arts & crafts to fitness and science. Class descriptions and registration forms will be posted for fall, winter and spring enrichment sessions.
